The Passage of Fear
INSPIRATIONAL
Scott J. Lucius

I stand before the storm within,
A tide of dread that rises fast.
But I refuse to let it win,
Its fleeting grip will never last.
It sweeps through me, fierce and wild,
My heart pounds steady, pulse intact.
Like waves that crash but leave me mild,
Its fury fades; I stay uncracked.
I watch its shadow slide away,
No longer caught in its command.
The echoes of its grasp decay,
And still I rise, a steady hand.
The mind untangles from its snare,
As silence reigns, the storm has died.
Where once was chaos, now lays air,
And I remain, my fear denied.
It was but a passing breath,
A brief invasion, nothing more.
The whispers gone, I laugh at death,
I claim the ground, a peaceful shore.
Now hollow winds rush past my ear,
But I stand firm, unshaken, whole.
There is no room for lingering fear—
I am the keeper of my soul.
