Ink and Embers is a deeply personal collection of poetry by Silas Fen that explores the moments that shape a life—love and loss, wonder and faith, grief and healing.

Through more than one hundred poems accompanied by evocative imagery, Fen invites readers into a world where nature speaks, memories linger, and the human spirit continues to rise despite life's inevitable hardships.

Written with honesty, warmth, and emotional depth, Ink and Embers is a book for those who have loved deeply, lost profoundly, questioned often, and continued forward anyway. Even after the fiercest fires, embers remain.

For readers who find meaning in ordinary moments, the wisdom of nature, and the enduring strength of the heart, Ink and Embers is a companion to return to again and again.

After contemplating how to describe these poems written by Silas Fen, the only thing that I can say is that they are indescribable! They spoke to my soul and heart! I literally could feel each emotion and the way the poet was speaking! I can't imagine not having these in my library! They truly are fantabulous!

An extraordinary debut collection that proves a first-time publication can be both deeply moving and meticulously crafted. Fen takes the reader on a thoughtful journey through the universal "highs and lows and ups and downs" of life focusing on the enduring themes of love, nature, heartbreak, detachment, hope and healing. What elevates this book is the presentation. Each poem is accompanied by an extraordinary graphic adding a visual layer that beautifully complements the text. The book is more than a poetry collection; it is beautifully packaged experience. Silas Fen has established himself as a voice to watch.

Thought-provoking. Captured the feelings of not only his life, but you will see yourself in some of these poems as I did. I would recommend Silas's book to everyone — you will not be disappointed!

These poems were amazing, with especially raw and honest examples in the love section. Although the poems are vastly different, they were all beautifully written. With the inclusion of the faith section, this book could be valuable to religious book clubs and readers looking to connect with their faith in a new way. Overall, a very lovely example of poetry that spans multiple topics.

There is a quiet charm in the way the collection bridges the gap between visual art and poetic expression. The paintings, with their fantastical and spiritual tones, offer a counterpoint to the repetitive verses. One cannot help but be drawn to the art, as it frequently provides a more immediate emotional connection. This interplay between image and text creates a layered expereince. In all, “Ink and Embers” offers a tender glimpse into the nature of love and loss, brought to life by both its measured verses and its compelling visual accompaniments.

First, I want to thank you for having the bravery to share your work with the world! I was immediately struck by this book's beautiful layout. The images you chose are stunning and complement the poetry so nicely. I also greatly appreciated the Preface and Introduction as Editorial they helped add context to the book. I lovethat the poetry is so hopeful, even when coming from places of sorrow or despair. It's a joyous collection overall and I thank you for sharing it.

This interplay between image and text creates a layered experience, leaving the poetic narrative feeling somewhat muted. There is room to ponder whether a more varied poetic form might have allowed the inner voice to emerge with greater clarity. The uniformity in structure gives the collection a sense of cohesion, yet it also suggests there might be hidden depths waiting to be explored through less repetitive means. The decision to maintain a singular poetic form throughout the book brings a consistency admirable in its own right, even if it occasionally limits the diversity of expression. In all, “Ink and Embers” offers a tender glimpse into the nature of love and loss, brought to life by both its measured verses and its compelling visual accompaniments.
